Where is Curl in competition ?
Seems that world has not heard the word "Curl" yet !
Till date competition is between Adobe AIR MS Silverlight (in web articles).

Now, Yahoo and Google both are gearing up for their respective products like Yahoo YUI and Google gears. Seems lots of steam will be in future for market sharing

With addition to this, Now Qt (www.trolltech.com) has already released its v4.4.0 which includes frameworks for WebKit and universal multimedia framework. It means now Qt desktop applications can host web applications. Qt is cross platform and offers native look-n-feel and it has been acquired by Nokia.
I had worked on Qt (with v 3.0) and its really a true cross-platform C++ UI framework.
