Hi All,
On Jun 11th we will be upgrading the Curl developer center to include many new functions. We want to hear what you think of the new site so we can continue to improve. Please post your thoughts int his discussion thread.
Thanks for your input.
Richard Treadway
Hi
Its good to know that this forum going for upgrade.
1. I think this forum should have close to phpBB/vBulletin features set
2. User should have option to add a restricted size attachment to their reply
3. And the tags like, Level1, Level2, Black Belt, etc .... should not depend upon the no of replies to forum, it should be the points earned by giving suitable answer to queries.
4. Somehow I feel the server response is slow as compared to other sites that I used to browse
5. Should have more really showcase apps, which stands ahead of Flex or other technologies. in other words apps which can be better done by Curl not by other technologies (I'm still looking for such apps
)
Thank you.
Richard
I came into the Dev Comm via a search engine link so missed your post - and so my post on URL issues. Would have given this a few days to sort itself out otherwise.
Now to return to the embrace of Eclipse ...
ClearSpace remains badly broken under only one of my browsers: Prism (Mozilla WebRunner) under Ubuntu (Asus EeePC EeeBuntu)
Dev Menus start as fully-expanded along the left (LEFT !) margin and are translucent and unusable
I test SSB code under many browsers both XP and linux so I will try to remember to check our pages when I am able
I have no Mac available at the moment
Thanks for your input Pradhan. I'll add #1, # 2 and #4 to our list of requested improvements.
I agree that points should be awarded for suitable answers and will make the appropriate change to the point allocation algorithm.
In regards to better demonstration applications that highlight Curl's abilities we plan to release a new demo on June 30th. The application, called eyeDecide, features complex visual analysis of global data from Gapminder.org and demonstrates the value of visualization in the analysis of complex data. eyeDecide provides visual analysis of population, economic, environmental and health indicators to give insight into global trends. With eyeDecide, users will be able to examine the cause and effect of metrics such as income per capita and life expectancy. By offering multiple linked views of different data sets and visualizing the data as it changes over time, eyeDecide enables key causes and effects to be easily spotted. eyeDecide will be a great demonstration of how good visualization can save enterprises time and money and will help show off Curl's features.
We plan to make the source available and we think users will have fun seeing the global trends.
Here is a prereview screen shot.
Robert, Thanks for your input. I've added these problems to the bug list.
Still unable to create a new project: no parent project in the list is selectable, but a parent is a required field.
... am looking forward to June 30 ...
In the meantime, I see that the dev menu's are flipped to the left-hand side of screen in Windows google Chrome browser ...
my EeeBuntu linux Opera browser also unable to use menus: the Galeon browser was OK
Just some quick thoughts.
First and foremost -
Its a fact that we are having a lot of developer counterparts in Japan.
They too will surely be using some developer forum of their own. Why don't we bring them here? Give the option for developers to ask questions in japanese! And in the meanwhile hire a translator (or by some other mechanism) give an option to translate that to english so that more ideas flow while they use curl.com's facilities. At present japanese curl is like a separate entity.
Next - this has been suggested by one of the members earlier.
Some chat widget like meebo or any other so that online developers can chat if possible [but make sure that each chat is documented for the public to view otherwise people tend to use chat more than the forum and many important points might get undocumented]
Exactly...I second your suggestion.
Separating develpers across regions, we only are weakening the dev community ![]()
Tiju,
That's an excellent idea. I'll see what we can do the get more interaction form developers in Japan.
I'll also look into some chat functionality.
Thanks for your input.
I was hoping the Dev Cntr might have a "project" now ...
... but in "Projects", the SEARCH action is giving me a fatal system error
Btw, could we create a "SemWeb Interest Group" when we are able to add groups?
Thanks
